COMPETENCES / EXPERTISE

From 2009 to 2017, my research focused on the regulation of multigene families in Schistosoma mansoni, as well as on the development of histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitors as novel therapeutic targets.
Since 2017, I have been involved in the functional characterization of transcriptional regulatory mechanisms controlling gene expression in Toxoplasma gondii. Our work aims to understand the role of ApiAP2 proteins, a conserved family of transcription factors, in gene expression regulation. Although it is now well established that ApiAP2 transcription factors play a crucial role in regulating gene expression in T. gondii, they are not the only regulators involved in this process. Indeed, we have identified a novel family of transcription factors conserved across Apicomplexa. The characterization of this family and the investigation of its functions constitute one of my research objectives, notably using reverse genetics approaches (KI, KO, iKD) in T. gondii.
