Chemical Biology of Flatworms (CBF)
Other CBF websites
The CBF team is involved in fundamental research on schistosomes using integrated chemical biology approaches. The main goal is the discovery and the development of novel therapeutic strategies against schistosomiasis.
The team is particularly focussed on the study of Schistosoma mansoni (S. mansoni). The life-cycle of S. mansoni, maintained by the team in a new dedicated lab requires two hosts, a fresh water snail Biomphalaria glabrata (B. glabrata) and a mammalian host (hamsters).
For more informations on S. mansoni life-cycle and how this worm is maintained in the lab, please visit our dedicated website: S. mansoni laboratory
The biology research of S. mansoni is strongly integrated with the expertise of the team in protein chemical synthesis and protein design, which also constitutes an important axis of research.
